Admin Guide

This page covers the management UI and the basic responsibilities of a LiveMatrix administrator.

Open the management UI and sign in with an admin username and password.

Default access point:

For most deployments, this is the right order:

  1. Create one or more profiles.
  2. Create users.
  3. Assign profiles to users.
  4. Configure keys on each profile.
  5. Create party lines where group communication is needed.
  6. Review settings such as default password and WebRTC relay behavior.

Users Page

Use Users to:

  • create standard operator accounts
  • create virtual users for bridge or hardware workflows
  • rename users
  • change a user's password
  • assign or remove a profile
  • delete users

Important behavior:

  • a user with no profile has no keys
  • profile assignment controls which keys a user receives
  • new users can inherit the default password configured in Settings

Profiles Page

Use Profiles to manage reusable key layouts.

Profiles are shared definitions. If several users need the same key layout, assign the same profile to all of them.

Important behavior:

  • changing a profile affects every user assigned to that profile
  • deleting a profile removes that shared key layout from assigned users

Keys Page

Use Keys in two different modes.

Profiles Tab

Use this tab to define which keys belong to a profile.

Keys can target:

  • another user
  • a party line

Depending on configuration, a key can allow:

  • listen
  • talk
  • both
  • latching on one or both sides

Users Tab

Use this tab to view and adjust a user's live key state.

This is useful when you need to verify what a user is currently doing or change state during a live operation.

Party Lines Page

Use Party Lines to create and manage shared communication groups.

Party lines are useful when several operators need to communicate within the same shared route instead of using only direct one-to-one keys.

Settings Page

Use Settings to:

  • set the default password used when creating new users
  • enable or disable forced TURN relay for WebRTC media
  • change the current admin password

Admin Best Practices

  • build profiles around roles, not individuals
  • use clear display names so operators can identify routes quickly
  • test new profiles with one operator before assigning them widely
  • treat profile edits as shared changes, because they affect all assigned users
